Keepsake Privacy Policy
Gabriel Gutierrez ("we", "us") makes audio plugins under the name Keepsake. This policy explains what information the plugins, the store and the website handle, and why.
The short version
- The plugins connect to the internet only to check your license key: when you unlock, then at most once a day for the next 30 days. After that, never.
- They contain no analytics, no tracking and no crash reporting. They collect no usage data.
- Gumroad processes your payment. We never see your card details.
- We never sell your information.
When you buy
You buy through Gumroad. Gumroad collects your name, your email address, your payment details and your country, and processes the payment under its own privacy policy (gumroad.com/privacy). We receive your email address, your name if you gave it, what you bought, and your license key. We use these only to deliver your purchase, answer support requests, and send email about what you bought (such as download links and important updates).
When you unlock a plugin
When you press UNLOCK, the plugin sends your license key and the product's ID to Gumroad's license-check service (api.gumroad.com). Gumroad replies with whether the key is valid and the email address it was bought with. Gumroad also counts how many times the key has been used to unlock. As with any internet request, Gumroad sees your IP address.
After a successful unlock, the plugin saves the key, that email address and the date on your own computer, in ~/Library/Application Support/Keepsake/Licenses/. That file never leaves your computer.
For the 30 days after you unlock, the plugin asks Gumroad about the same key again, at most once a day and only while its panel is open, to see whether the purchase has been refunded. It sends the same two things (key and product ID), and these checks don't count as new unlocks. After 30 days the plugin never connects again.
What stays on your computer
Besides the license file, the plugins save a few preferences on your computer (for example, whether the tour has been offered), in ~/Library/Application Support/Keepsake/Prefs/. Your kits, presets and sessions are saved wherever you choose to save them. None of this is sent anywhere.
The website
keepsakeplugins.com uses no analytics and sets no cookies of its own. Like any web host, ours (Cloudflare) sees your IP address when you load a page. Links to the store go to Gumroad, which has its own policy.
If you buy a plugin, we email you only about that plugin: your receipt and key, and a note when an update is ready. Those emails are sent through Gumroad. We don't run a marketing list, and we never add buyers to one without their consent.
Support
If you email support@keepsakeplugins.com, we keep your messages so we can help you, and use them for nothing else.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you: email support@keepsakeplugins.com. Records Gumroad holds are covered by Gumroad's policy, and some purchase records may have to be kept for tax purposes. To remove the license file from your computer, delete the folder named above.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
